ANNUAL GENERAL MEETINGAssalamu'alaikum...
LUU listed some facts about education in palestine which are as follows: [maaf, tak larat nak taip sume]
1) That over one third of the Palestinian population are students in full-time school or university education
2) That the Israeli security fence, 700 military roadblocks and checkpoints, and prolonged curfews, severely restrict the movement of students and teachers from reaching their schools and universities
3) The Birzeit Uni, near Ramallah in the West Bank, was sealed off by an Israeli Army roadblock for nearly 3 years between 2001-2003; and that today the road to Birzeit remains subect to frequent 'flying checkpoints',
which restrict the universal human right to education4)......
5)......
6) That 8 out 11 uni in the West Bank and Gaza have been shelled or broken into by the Israeli Army since September 2000
7) That over 700 children, 200 uni students and 39 teachers have been killed by the Israeli Arm since September 2000
8)......
9)......
[overall, 9 facts have been stated by LUU]
And the LUU believes:1) This situation is unacceptable
2) That the right to education is a fundamental human right and a prerequisite of human freedom, as declared in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948), which states that "Everyone has the right to education", and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (1966), which recognises that 'Education is both a human right in itself and an indispensable means of realising other human rights
3)......
4)......
5) It is the responsibility of governments, civil society organisations and ordinary people to defend the universal right to education
LUU resolves:1) To affiliate to the right to education campaign at Birzeit uni as a show of solidarity and support to all Palestinian students and teachers who are struggling to live, work and study throughout the conflict
2) To raise awareness within this union and beyond to local and national constituencies about the issues concerning the Palestinian education system
3).....
4) To support the Right to Education Campaign's calls for international action against Israeli violations of the human right to education in the occupied Palestinian territory.
Kesimpulannye, motion ni murni la, nak tolong orang Palestine...So, brothers and sisters isoc sume campaign gi AGM ni so that majority will vote for the motion sbb kat sini ramai student jews and ada ura-ura mengatakan diorang akan bersemangat utk hadir dan vote against this motion...
dan memang benar pun dan telah ade Ammendments to this motion proposed by a jewish guy yg menyediakan hujah2 berikut supaya motion tersebut dipinda kpd sesuatu yg baru [yg obviously memihak kepada diorang dan tak perlu rasenye saye type di sini] Pakcik ni juge propose supaya "Resolution" yg nak diambil oleh LUU tadi dimansuhkan nombor 1, 3 dan 4....hujjah2 pakcik ini:
1) The Birzeit University is a stronghold of the organisation Hamas, which opposes peace with Israel. Several Birziet students have been involved in suicide bombings inside Israel, which have killedover 1000, including many children
2) That children in Palestinian schools are indoctrinated from the earliest age to deny the existence of the State of Israel and to glorify suicide bombers. Textbooks used in Palestinian elementary schools funded by European and American money promote anti-Semitism and contain hateful stereotyping of Jews
3)......
dan dari pagi tadi, diorang dah edarkan pamplet kepada org ramai supaya vote against motion yg murni nih...diorang gunakan alasan tempat belajar kat palestine nih digunakan utk mendidik budak budak supaya jadi terrorist dan suicide bombers pada masa akan datang....diorang memang la tak nak orang islam dapat pendidikan bagus...kalau orang islam tak dpt pendidikan, diorang tak dpt nak buat pape..ilmu tu kan kunci segala kunci...
waktu AGM agak hangat la...ramai jugak orang putih yg sokong motion ni...but surprisingly, motion ni gagal dan dibatalkan...disebabkan terlalu ramai jews yg hadir...dan muslim pulak sedikit bilangannye....tidak dapat menandingi bilangan mereka yg bersatu padu nak jatuhkan kite orang Islam....ramai jugak orang putih biasa nih yg frust sebab motion nih dibatalkan...diorang rase dissapointed and upset sebab isu religion dilebih-lebihkan oleh pakcik makcik jews nih rather than humanity...education rights....
dan sebaik sahaja perbincangan tentang motion ni tamat [ni motion kedua, ade lagi tiga motion utk diperbincangkan sepatutnye], berduyun-duyun orang keluar meninggalkan refectory...yg muslim keluar sebab frust...yg jews keluar dengan sorakan dan tepukan tangan yg menyakitkan hati...nampak sangat diorang datang semata-mata nak tengok motion nih dibatalkan...
dan orang islam yg hadir hanya sedikit bilangannya...menunjukkan betapa ignorantnye orang islam nih...tak tau pun ade motion nih dalam AGM [even ade certain orang tak tau pun ade AGM ni] dan tidak bersungguh-sungguh menyebarkan maklumat kepada rerakan muslim yg lain supaya hadir memberikan sokongan dan vote. Betapa tak sepadu nye kite compare tu pakcik2 dan makcik2 jews tu...Alhamdulillah...ade gak la a few sisters yg supposedly ade lecture petang tadi, tapi diorang ponteng lecture [lecture tak amik attendence pun] sebab nak jugak meramaikan vote...tapi sayang...masih tidak cukup...walhal ramai je muslim students kat sini...
Betapa satu vote tu pun mampu mengubah nasib saudara seislam kita dekat Palestine...betapa ade jalan utk kite membantu mereka dari jauh walau tidak ikut serta berjuang di bumi palestin...tapi usaha ini disia-siakan begitu sahaja...ummat islam masih lalai...masih tak mampu bersuara lantang...
same la jugak dengan ape-ape context pun...walaupun satu vote, nampak mcm kodi je...tapi mempunyai peranan besar dalam sesuatu perkara...sama ada konteks organisasi biasa, negara, dan lain-lain...vote kite yg satu tu mampu mengembalikan kegemilangan islam, mahupun membela nasib saudara seislam kita...fikir-fikirkanlah...
terkilan? marah pada diri sendiri sbb tak dpt buat pape and tak usaha sungguh2? redha? pasrah? geram? a mixture of feelings....
kesimpulan??? fikir sendiri...
